Progress is not an abstraction. It is water that runs, roads that carry, power that stays, and markets that thrive. The daily life of the ordinary citizen is the true scoreboard of governance.
Where Benue Stands
The infrastructure that shapes a Benue life is rarely a flyover. It is the borehole that decides whether a girl in Oju spends her morning in class or on a water path; the rural road that decides what a Konshisha orange is worth; the river crossing that holds Buruku together; the market stall that funds a family in Otukpo.
These are unglamorous investments with glamorous returns: hours returned to children, value returned to farmers, dignity returned to daily life. They fail quietly and they are fixed quietly, which is why they need a loud advocate.
What Must Change
- Clean water and sanitation as basic dignity, not privilege
- Roads and bridges that hold communities together in every season
- Reliable power for homes, markets, and small businesses
- Markets and public spaces that honour the people who use them
How Progress Is Measured
- Communities with working water points, counted and mapped
- Rural roads passable in the wet season, not only the dry
- Market towns with power their traders can plan around
- Journey times to school, clinic and market, falling
